The 4th Indian Cancer and Genetics Conference and workshop (ICGCW) covered basic, translational and clinical aspects of major hereditary cancer syndromes due to germline mutations in various genes including genes that are being increasingly reported on gene panel testing.
A Breast MRI symposium was also be conducted by UChicago Faculty Dr. Kirti Kulkarni and Tata Memorial Centre faculty, Dr. Seema Kembhavi as part of the conference, on Saturday, December 8th, 2018. This symposium initiated the process of providing an important platform for collaboration and ongoing learning for us and our colleagues in Chicago and India.
The aim of the symposium was to create a unique, interactive hands-on breast MRI interpretation and breast MRI biopsy session. It provided an in-depth coverage of emerging technologies in the field of breast imaging via didactic lectures, Q and A sessions, interactive sessions, challenging cases, and panel discussions that add value to the radiology practice. Interesting cases were presented in a quiz format for audience participation. This symposium also promoted the collaboration between University of Chicago and Tata medical center through exchange of ideas, research opportunities and professional experiences.
The main organizers of this conference were Dr. Kirti Kulkarni, MD, Associate Professor, Director of Breast Imaging Fellowship, Lead Physician Interpreter for the University of Chicago Breast Imaging Center, Department of Radiology, University of Chicago; Dr. Olufunmilayo Olopade, MD, Professor and Director of Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program, Director of Center for Clinical Cancer Genetics and Global Health, University of Chicago; Dr. Seema Kembhavi, MD, Professor, Director of Breast Imaging, Department of Radiology, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai; and Dr. Rajiv Sarin, MD, DNB, FRCR, Professor and Director of Clinical Oncology, Department of Oncology, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.
