Prof. Satish Chitneni, Associate Professor in UChicago's Department of Radiology, develops molecularly targeted radiotracers — using small molecules, peptides, and antibodies labeled with radionuclides like fluorine-18 and zirconium-89 — for PET imaging and targeted radiopharmaceutical therapy of cancer. In this conversation, Prof. Chitneni discusses his plans of expanding this still-emerging field in India by visiting institutions with the specialized equipment the research requires, building partnerships with Indian pharmaceutical research centers, launching joint projects in molecular imaging and cancer treatment, and hosting a workshop at UChicago's Center in Delhi next summer.
Professor Chitneni's project is one of sixteen awarded projects of the India-South Asia region supported by the Provost's Global Faculty Awards.
