Since opening in 2014, the University of Chicago’s Center in Delhi has advanced collaboration across many fields of academic inquiry. The resulting collaborations have directly enriched scholarship and research in these fields and have contributed to the growing ties between the people and institutions of India and the United States.

10th Anniversary Launch Event UChicago Center in Delhi, hosted at Kolkata
March 10, 2024The 10th Anniversary Celebrations of University of Chicago Center in Delhi was held at Tagore Palace, Kolkata, on the 10th of March 2024, featuring distinguished guests including Professor Philip V. Bohlman, the Ludwig Rosenberger Distinguished Service Professor in Jewish History, Music, and the Humanities at the University of Chicago. Graduate students Tomal Hossain and Pramantha Tagore also joined the event.
The evening featured a captivating performance of Evening Raga-Based Songs of Kazi Nazrul Islam by Tomal Hossain, a PhD Research Fellow from the University of Chicago's Department of Music, as well as a dance performance by Souraja Tagore, Dance Practitioner and Assistant Professor, The Bhawanipur Education Society College, Kolkata
Genuine and heartfelt testimonies were shared by Professor Rosinka Chaudhuri, Director, Center for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta; Professor Sukanya Sarbadhikari, Presidency University; Professor Suddhasatta Mahapatra, IIT Bombay; Sabyasachi Bhattacharya, Former Director at TCG Crest, TIFR, and Former professor at Ashoka University, highlighting their collaborative experiences with the University of Chicago Center in Delhi.
The occasion was also attended by representatives from various esteemed institutions in Kolkata and distinguished alumni, adding to the significance of the event.

10th Anniversary Culmination Event of the UChicago Center in Delhi
December 13, 20242024 marked the tenth anniversary of the University of Chicago Center in Delhi, which has served as a hub for University scholars to collaborate and learn from colleagues throughout India, South Asia, and the globe. In celebration of this milestone, the University of Chicago hosted a culmination event that featured remarks by University of Chicago leadership, two keynote addresses, and a fireside chat that focused on academia’s role in the clean energy transition in India and marked the launch of the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Growth in India. The culmination event underscored the University’s rich history of partnership in the region and catalyzed future innovation by turning "ideas into impact.
