Description:

The University of Chicago and Public Health Foundation of India presented  “A Workshop on Universal Health Coverage in India: Karnataka Case Study."

The Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY), launched in 2008, is India’s flagship health insurance scheme for the poor providing coverage to nearly 150 million individuals. Recently, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) has begun the process of reforming RSBY to expand access to free and affordable healthcare services to many millions more. Different Indian states have experimented with various models to provide such healthcare access, the State of Karnataka in particular has had remarkable success with the Suvarna Surkasha Arogyasiri Trust and the Yeshaswini Trust Models as well as RSBY. This workshop brought together policymakers from the Central and State Governments, practitioners and academics to discuss the best reform path forward for the RSBY through the lens of Karnataka.

This event was by invitation only.
